Good friends of designer Melanie Hay enlisted her expertise to transform a dark, cramped Toronto kitchen into a bright, European-inspired space. The completed project features old-world charm, seamlessly mixing with contemporary accents through a thoughtful interplay of warm metals, rich wood grains, and a blend of bold statement pieces and minimalist details.
The design embraces earthy tones, graceful curves, and opulent materials, including veined Arabescato Corchia marble. To achieve balance, Melanie opted for muted hues like Farrow & Ball’s London Stone finish for the cabinetry, complemented by warm brass fixtures that soften contrasts while exuding elegance. A striking brass Eucalyptus Leaf chandelier enhances the space with both light and artistry. The result is a harmonious and inviting space where the homeowners delight in gathering, dining, and working.
